How to become an Orton Gillingham Trained Practitioner
Becoming an Orton Gillingham Associate practitioner requires dedication and determination, but we can help you do it.
If you would like to become an Orton-Gillingham Associate practitioner, TAP Learning Services can help. We provide the coursework and practicum in a one-year cohort model. All coursework and observations are done virtually.
Requirements:
In addition to holding a Bachelor’s degree (in any field of study), you must:

Complete 70 hours of coursework delivered by a Fellow or Fellow-in-Training (FIT)

Complete readings as determined by the Orton Gillingham Academy

Complete 100 hours of a practicum with a supervising Fellow or FIT​​

Work 1:1 with a student for a total of 100 hours

Complete a minimum of 10 observations with an Orton Gillingham Fellow

Participate in a provided cohort

Timing:
Becoming an Associate Orton Gillingham practitioner with TAP is completed in (1) calendar year.

For those Associate-level practitioners who desire to further their training, TAP also provides coursework and a practicum to become a Certified level member of the Academy. Becoming a Certified Orton Gillingham practitioner with TAP is completed in 2 calendar years.
